Science session at Acharya Narendra Dev College for DU aspirants

New Delhi: During a counseling session on Thursday, students rushed to
the Acharya Narendra Dev (AND) College to seek more information
regarding science courses at the Delhi University (DU).

Subject-specific faculty members conducted one-on-one sessions with DU
aspirants apart from answering general queries that several
participants had.

Yashika, a DU aspirant who had scored an average of 80% in her class
12 examinations asked about the career prospects after doing
Mathematics (Honors). She was assured by the mathematics faculty that
there will not be a dearth of career options for a student with
Mathematics (Honors).

A faculty member said that a student can join banking, investment or
the finance sector and even pursue higher studies, research or attempt
to join the civil services or management studies after a degree in
Mathematics. Also, teaching was also stated to be a good career option
after Mathematics (Hons.) as there is a dearth of math teachers in
India and abroad.

The students were also given information regarding science courses in
all colleges under DU. AND College Principal Dr. Savithri Singh said
that students who were seeking a future in science had plenty of
options open for them.

"Subjects such as B.Sc (Honors) in biomedical sciences, botany,
chemistry, computer sciences, electronics, physics, zoology,
mathematics, B.Sc in physical sciences and physics and mathematics
have become very popular among students," she said.
