DU admission rush begins on Saturday

New Delhi: The admission rush at the Delhi University (DU) is all set
to begin today as the varsity has on Saturday begun the admission
procedure for the academic session 2011-12.

The first open day and the registration for SC/ST and differently
abled candidates is also being held today.

The university had earlier announced changes in its admission
procedure wherein the common pre-admission OMR forms were discontinued
and the university decided to announce 5 cut-off lists instead of 4.

Although there will be no forms for students under the general and OBC
category, students would still be required to submit forms for courses
that require an entrance exam.

At least 54000 students will be admitted by the university across 60
colleges. There will be 12 Open Day sessions that will be held from
Saturday to June 8 during which time aspirants can meet the faculty
and current students of the university.

The first Open Day session will be organized by the university at the
Conference Centre in North Campus. Officials and students from the
university will give presentations during the open days on various
courses and colleges, eligibility criteria and the admission process.

The volunteers will also take questions and offer individual
counseling to DU aspirants.

Apart from the open days, the university has also begun e-open days
and web chat to provide aspirants with guidance during the admission
procedure.

The university has created an email ID for letting students mail their
doubts and suggestions to the vice chancellor directly. There is also
a help desk that has been set up at the office of the dean of
students' welfare. The varsity will also launch its Facebook page on
Saturday.
