implement the biometric system of attendance at all its schools to
curb the problem of teacher absenteeism and dereliction of duty among
teachers.
If the biometric system is implemented, teachers will be expected to
mark their attendance thrice a day at morning, during lunch break and
at the end of the day. The system is most likely to be implemented by
the end on July.
Mahendra Nagpal, chairman of MCD's education committee said that
teachers' absenteeism has been a huge problem for MCD schools. "The
MCD has been spending a lot of money on improving the quality of
education in the schools but it will all be a waste if the teachers do
not take things seriously," he said.
"We have decided to soon install biometric attendance machines in
schools in which teachers will also have to mark their attendance like
our other employees," Nagpal said, adding that this was MCD's first
step towards effective e-governance at its schools.
