begun, minority colleges under the varsity such as St. Stephen's and
Jesus and Mary College (JMC).
These two colleges have set aside separate admission guidelines and
will be conducting the admissions via their own application forms.
Amita Tiwari, Associate Professor at JMC said that students seeking
admission to the college will be required to complete and submit a
pre-admission form.
Besides JMC and St. Stephen's that are selling their own forms and
prospectus, all other colleges have done away with the pre-admission
forms from this year.
Tiwari further added that JMC will soon be commencing the admission
procedure for all courses. "The sale of prospectus and forms will
begin on May 30 and will continue till June 8, including on
Saturdays," she said.
The college will then put up a list of the selected candidates based
on the admission criteria of the college and DU guidelines. Students
will be able to buy the prospectus and forms from the college itself.
Aspirants who do not meet the percentage cutoff required for admission
to a particular course can seek admission through the Extra-Curricular
Activities (ECA) or the sports quotas.
Students who would be applying through these quotas should have a
strong background in the quota they are applying under.
Tiwari informed that JMC has active debating, dramatics, choreography
and western music societies that help students by providing ample
scope to showcase their talent for admission.
"For students who will be applying under the sports quota, proficiency
in any sport at the state and national levels will be considered for
admissions," Tiwari said.
In terms of sporting options, JMC offers athletics, basketball,
football, hockey and shot put. Students applying under the sports
quota will be will be able to apply for any sport and trials will be
conducted based on their expertise.
The sports trials for the college will be held between June 9 and June
11 and the ECA trials will be held between June 11 and June 13.
Before the trials, the list of students shortlisted for the ECA trials
will be displayed on the college notice board on June 10.
