IGNOU, CISF to train 1.3 lakh personnel

New Delhi: As part of its Community College Scheme, IGNOU has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Industrial Security
Force (CISF) to empower 1.3 lakh CISF personnel.

The MoU, signed between U.S. Tolia, Registrar (Admin), and H.V.
Chaturvedi, Inspector General, CISF Headquarters, Ministry of Home
Affairs, the CISF personnel having Higher Secondary qualifications
shall be eligible to enroll in the Bachelor's Programme in Security
Operations from IGNOU.

The Programme consists of 96 credits, with 32 credits on successful
completion of basic training at the National Industrial Security
Academy (NISA)/Regional Training Centers (RTCs), and 64 credits to be
earned in second and third year.

On successful completion of second year (32 credits), the personnel
will be awarded an Associate Degree. "Individuals who have not
completed 10+2 examination prior to joining CISF will be required to
do a Bridge programme of at least one semester of 16 credits,
simultaneously along with the registration for Bachelor's degree," it
added.

"I have observed that a large number of personnel come from rural
backgrounds, and this programme will be highly beneficial to them,"
said N.R. Das, IPS, Director General (CISF).
