Chhattisgarh has no scholarship scheme for madrasas

Raipur: Chhattisgarh's Bharatiya Janata Party government on Monday
informed the state assembly that it has no scheme in existence to
provide scholarship to students enrolled in madrasas.

"There are 364 madrasas in operation in the state, the teachers of
these madrasas get grant from the central government's Scheme for
Providing Quality Education in Madrasas (SPQEM)," Education Minister
Brijmohan Agrawal informed the house.

"But the state government has no scheme to provide scholarship to
students studying in madrasa schools," Brijmohan said in a written
reply to a Congress member who wanted to know what the government was
doing for madrasa students. IANS
