ESIC to set up medical colleges

New Delhi: The Union Labour & Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has informed the Lok Sabha that the Employee's State Insurance Corporation has proposed to set up Medical Colleges at various locations including one each at Chest Disease ESI Hospital in Ahmedabad and Paripally in Kerala.

Construction is going on at Medical College Paripally - Kollam Project. However, the Medical College at Chest Disease ESI Hospital, Naroda, Ahemdabad will be considered after completion of the ongoing projects

Funds amounting to Rs. 480.79 crores has been sanctioned for Medical College - Paripally - Kerala, but no funds have yet been sanctioned for the proposed Medical College at Chest Disease ESI Hospital, Ahmedabad.

The Medical College at Paripally, Kerala is to be completed by 30-09-2012.

The Minister was replying to a written question whether Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) intends to set up a new medical college at the Chest Disease ESI Hospital at Ahmedabad and Paripally in Kerala; the funds allocated by ESIC in; and the time by which the medical college is likely to be completed.
