(AIEEE) 2011 was conducted smoothly on Wednesday but garnered mixed
reaction from candidates who appeared for the test.
While some students claimed that the rescheduled paper was
comparatively easy, several students complained that the test was the
toughest that had been set in many years, some students even claiming
the whole procedure to be faulty.
Some schoolteachers and students said that the difficulty level for
both the test held on Wednesday and the originally scheduled one held
on May 1 were of the same difficulty level.
Around 34,000 AIEEE aspirants had registered to appear for the
rescheduled test that was conducted for students who had been unable
to appear for the postponed test on May 1.
The test had been delayed by three hours due to a paper leak on May 1
but several students had been unable to appear for it as the timings
clashed with the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) entrance test.
The rescheduled test was conducted in 95 centres across 39 cities.
Students who had appeared for the test on May 1 alleged that the paper
on Wednesday was much easier than the one that had been conducted
originally. However, Suhasini Nair, a class XII student who appeared
for the test on Wednesday said that the test was of the same
difficulty level as the one held on May 1.
Ashok Pandey, Principal of Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar
said that the papers for both test conducted on May 1 and May 11 were
of the same difficulty level. "My students from both the May 1 and May
11 batch said that there was little difference between the two papers.
The CBSE always has a backup of question papers of the same difficulty
level ready as there is always chance of anyone taking undue
advantage," he said.
He further added that the Central Board of Secondary Education's
(CBSE) ability to reorganize the test within hours after the question
paper leak was reported was proof that the Board was highly efficient
and could manage crisis well.
Chemistry Teacher at Springdales School, Pusa Road spoke from a
parent's point of view and said that two tests could never be of the
same difficulty level. "CBSE should have conducted a fresh examination
for all students," he said.
A candidate who appeared for the test on Wednesday, Dibankar Jha said
that the physics paper was extremely difficult and was far above the
level of AIEEE. He further stated that the mathematics paper was of a
medium difficulty but the chemistry paper was relatively easy.
All in all, Dibankar Jha said that compared to the test on May 1,
Wednesday's paper was much tougher.
Both candidates who had appeared for the test on May 1 and May 11 said
that conducting the test in two phases was unfair and the whole
decision was a mistake.
Last week, parents of several students had visited the CBSE office,
demanding the board to conduct a fresh re-examination for all
candidates but the Board had turned a deaf ear to their plea. CBSE
Director Vineet Joshi said that the difficulty level for both tests
was the same so the question of a complete re-examination does not
arise.
