Over a lakh applicants for Jamia's 7,000 seats

New Delhi: The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has sold 114,244 forms for
the varsity's approximately 7,000 seats with courses like management
and engineering the most sought-after, a varsity official said on
Thursday.

"The figure of sold forms is till May 9 and the seats are spread over
231 professional and non-professional courses in 36 departments and 17
centres of excellence and research," a Jamia official said.

"It is an overwhelming response as the last date of receiving
completed application forms in many courses is over," the official
said.

As per records, 37,902 forms for management and engineering courses
were sold by the varsity while the figure for teaching courses like
B.Ed and ETE (Elementary Teachers Education) stood at 9,423. Jamia's
mass communication course sold 1,493 forms, added the official. IANS
