DU Undergraduate Admissions 2011 from June 15

New Delhi: June 15, 2011 is finally the date when the country's most
prestigious Delhi University (DU) will announce their first cut off
list of different colleges for their undergraduate admissions 2011.
The admission advisory committee of the university in a meeting on
Thursday approved the same.

For students aspiring to get into Delhi University, they will now get
four days to take admission after the announcement of the cut off list
which used to be three days earlier.

This decision was taken, keeping in mind that no deserving candidates
should miss out on the admissions. Students will now get ample time to
decide which college to go for.

Last year, the first cut-off list was announced on June 22. Since
colleges now have an extra week, they will now get more time to
declare subsequent cut-off lists.

The university had declared a drastically new admission policy on
April 12, under which pre-admission forms were dispensed with.
Earlier, the university would begin the sale of forms on June 1.

According to the new admission policy, students can now go and take
admission in any college where they meet the cut-off. According to
Bhim Sen Singh, principal of Kirori Mal College, June 15 is a good
time to declare the first cut-off as both students and colleges will
now get ample time to deal with teething troubles.

Many DU college principals continue to be apprehensive over admissions
under the new system. Another principal of a reputed north campus
college stated that there would not be many admissions during the
first and the second cut-off lists, due to the inflated cut-offs.

All colleges, other than St. Stephen's College, will follow the new
admission guidelines and schedule.

On the other hand, St. Stephen's will sell pre-admission forms like
always. Reverend Valson Thanpu, principal of St. Stephen's College
said that the admission forms of the college will go on sale on May 25
and the last date for form submission is June 13. The interview list
will come out on June 16, with the interviews starting from June 20.
