collaboration with the Centre for Science Development and Media
Studies (CSDMS) and Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd., will host a World
Education Summit (WES) 2011 from July 13 to 15 at the Ashoka Hotel in
New Delhi.
The University will also be giving away "World Education Awards"
during the summit under the categories of School Education, Higher
Education, Vocational and Skills Education, Government Initiatives and
Private Initiatives.
These awards have been instituted with the aim of felicitating and
acknowledging unique and innovative initiatives in the field of
education globally.
IGNOU is currently inviting nominations from schools, higher education
institutions, vocational training institutions, government
organizations, non-government organizations, private institutions and
enterprises across the globe engaged in the field of education for the
awards.
WE has been envisaged as a major global platform hinged on the
participatory model, bringing together policymakers, education
leaders, government functionaries, civil society organizations,
international developmental agencies, Communities of Practices (CoP),
industry, academia, change agents across nations for dialogues,
debates and deliberations upon policies, tools and methods of learning
towards education for all.
The key objectives of the summit are to draw attention to the best
practices and to promote innovations in the field of education, enrich
global efforts at inclusive education and implementation of education
policies, assess learning in the 21st century and debate trends in
school, higher and skill education across the globe and address the
role of teachers in meeting learners' diverse expectations and needs.
