Aligarh Muslim University, a free health consultation camp was
organized at the Iqra Public School.
More than 250 students were provided free medical consultation
including the 40 children who, having respiratory problems, were
examined for asthma. Only six children were diagnosed positive to the
disease.
Addressing the people at the camp, the In-charge of Pulmunology and ID
Clinic, Dr. Farzana K. Beg said that bronchial asthma is the common
cause for large number of people visiting hospitals and children
absenting from school.
Dr. Beg also said that there is an increase in prevalence of asthma by
3 folds in last two decades affecting almost one in every six children
and causing a loss of 13 million school days every year.
She also highlighted the ways and means of prevention from the
disease. In a study made by Dr. Farzana K. Beg, 536 asthmatic patients
were admitted in J.N. Medical College in one and a half year period.
Dr. Beg said that similar camps will be organized at Al-Barkat Public
School and Pulmunology and ID Clinic on May 3 and 4 respectively.
On this occasion, Principal of Iqra Public School, Dr. Nandita Nag,
Dr. Musheer Riyaz, Dr. Tarique Ekram, Dr. Kaifi Siddiqui, Dr. Leena
and Dr. Kashif were present.
