Islamia (JMI) has already crossed 7000 forms within two days, since
the sale of forms had begun on Friday.
The forms are being sold for both Bachelor's and Master's level
courses. The prospectus as well as the forms can be obtained from the
counters of Maktaba Jamia Limited located on the campus on all working
days.
The forms and prospectus are also available for download on the
university's official website.
Three new postgraduate courses have been introduced by the university
and all of these will be following the semester system. The courses
are M.Tech in Earthquake Engineering, Master's in Architecture and MA
in Early Childhood Development.
The university is also offering a diploma in Catalan language. The
university's spokesperson informed that they had earlier started a
certificate course in the European language last year but now there
was a diploma course too.
The admission to all courses at the university is through entrance
tests. The number of entrance tests was decreased this year
significantly by introducing common entrance tests to make the process
convenient for students.
Earlier, students who had applied to more than one course had to
appear for a number of tests.
The BA programme that had been discontinued last year has also been
re-introduced at the varsity this year. The curriculum for the
programme has been restructured and the number of seats has also been
brought down from 190 in 2009 to 50 from the upcoming academic
session.
The university has, however, postponed its plans to implement the
semester system for its undergraduate courses
