Hamilton, New Zealand: New Zealand will set up an agency by this September to safeguard the quality and image of the country's education system, an education department official said.
The agency will ensure that the international students are adequately supported while living and studying in New Zealand. It will also focus on international education, laying emphasis on better coordination, sharper focus and better value for money.
The new agency will operate alongside the education ministry, Education New Zealand and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, under the Crown Entities Act (2004).
Talking to the sources, Neil Scotts, senior manager at the international division of the education ministry, said, "The functions of the new agency include all government-funded offshore representational, promotional, and other functions and activities in relation to international education."
"Simultaneously, all aspects to do with safeguarding the quality and reputation of the New Zealand education system will also be managed under the new agency," Neil added. IANS
