IGNOU to bring out book on silver jubilee lectures

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Wednesday said it plans to bring out a book carrying texts of lectures delivered as part of its year-long silver jubilee celebrations which ended November 2010, an official said.

The 'IGNOU Silver Jubilee Lectures' were organized between December 2009 and November last year, he said.

The book "Bridging the Gap: Essays on Inclusive Development and Education" has been edited by Latha Pillai, pro-vice chancellor, and Babu P. Remesh, associate professor, school of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies. A memorandum of understanding has also been signed with Sage publications.

"The volume will be published and distributed worldwide through Sage publications. The essays in the volume are organized around two broader themes - 'Inclusion of the excluded' and 'Education for the marginalized'," said V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, vice chancellor, IGNOU.

The contributors to the volume include activist Kiran Bedi, veteran journalist P. Sainath, danseuse Mallika Sarabhai and actor Nandita Das, said Pillai. IANS
