the University of Delhi had announced that the common pre-admission
OMR forms for this year's DU admission season will be scrapped, the
university has still not issued any official notifications to the
colleges in this regard.
As a result, colleges have been finding it difficult to begin planning
for the upcoming commencement of the DU admission procedure.
Ramjas College Principal Rajendra Prasad said that they cannot decide
anything unless they have the written communication. "We are not aware
clearly about what we will be allowed to do and what the new rules are
exactly," he said.
He further added that although everything had been discussed in the
meeting between the DU vice chancellor, registrar and the college
principals, they will not be sure of every detail of the new procedure
until the formal notification arrives.
After the new admission procedure was announced, colleges had begun
wondering regarding the parameters that will be considered for
determining the cut-offs besides past experiences and results of Class
12 board examinations.
Past experience was the primary choice of most colleges to determine
the cut-offs. However, principals of some colleges has said that
without any data regarding the number of students that will be
applying for admission at the university, it would be problematic for
them to determine the cut-offs. This may result in over-admission of
students.
Several colleges are thinking of beginning an online registration
process that will be mandatory. However, the colleges cannot take any
concrete decisions right now till a written communication from DU
containing dos and don'ts is received.
The official notification from the university may take around 2-3 more
days. A university official said that the official communication may
take some time to prepare as they have to look into minor details.
